5,517,600 is a kinetic sculpture I made while studying in the sculpture department at RISD. Constructed entirely out of hand-bent wire, the motion of the piece is powered by a single hand-crank. That hand-crank drives two nearly identical gear trains that end in two small orbiting spheres. Because of the slight discrepancy in the gear train ratio the orbiting spheres only align once every 5,517,600 turns of the crank.
